How to tell an original jaipuri razai double bed from a fake?
Look at the print. Hand block printing has slight variations between repeats. No two motifs are perfectly identical. That is the mark of real block work. Machine prints are uniform and flat. This razai has that handmade character in every motif.
What’s inside?
Surgical cotton fill at approximately 225 GSM. Surgical cotton is denser and more uniform than regular mulmul fill. It holds its shape longer and distributes warmth more evenly across the razai. No synthetic fillers, no polyester.
Construction
Hand stitched, not machine quilted. The stitching keeps the surgical cotton fill locked in place without compressing it. Both sides are hand block printed on pure cotton, so the razai looks finished whichever way you use it.
Design
One side has individual flower motifs set inside scallop arches on a cream base. Navy blue cornflowers, coral marigolds, green ferns, and palm trees, each in their own frame. The reverse side has a sage green base covered with white floral vines. A blue and white striped piping border finishes the edges.
